AdCats
A AdCats is the University of Arizona’s first and only student-run advertising agency.
Services offered by the agency include but are not limited to:
Marketing : Advertising/Media Services, Collateral Materials/Publications and Direct Marketing
Public Relations : Community Relations, Publicity/Media Relations and Special Events
The AdCats agency team works independently outside of class on their own free time to ensure that all client needs and all agency tasks are met. This includes bringing in client work, meeting with clients and planning and executing client work. Students have the freedom to work at their own pace to accomplish tasks.
The AdCats agency works from its office on campus in Babcock, room 3205. Weekly agency team meetings are held to ensure that all team members stay on task. All students are offered 3 units of internship credit from the Eller College Marketing Department (MKTG 293) per semester for their involvement in AdCats.
Participation in AdCats is extremely time intensive and fast paced but very self rewarding.
The AdCats team for the 2009-2010 school year has already been selected. However, we are looking for freelancers for the following positions:
- Graphic Designers
- Web Designers
- Public Relations and Special Events Staff

Positions Available
INTERNAL SERVICES
Agency Director (Position available: 1)
The agency director is responsible for overseeing all agency operations to ensure that only the highest quality of work is delivered and that all clients’ needs are met by the deadline needed. The agency director is the face of the agency and leads the agency team to accomplish all goals. In addition, the agency director communicates constantly with the faculty advisor, makes all final agency decisions and handles any and all internal and external situations.
Agency Manager (Position available: 1)
The agency manager is responsible for the facilitating the ease of inhouse operations of the agency. This includes working hand and hand with the agency director to ensure that the entire agency team is kept up-to-date with all tasks and clients. The agency manager facilitates the communication between clients and account directors.
CREATIVE DEPARTMENT
Creative Director (Position available: 1)
The creative director is responsible for branding and advertising for a client and ensuring that the new branding and advertising fits in with the client's requirements and the image they wish to promote for their company or product. The main aspects of this role are to interpret a client's communications strategy and then develop proposed creative approaches and treatments that align with that strategy. Another is to initiate and stimulate creative ideas for and from everyone involved in the creative process. The creative director is ultimately responsible for the quality of the final creative work.
Graphic Designer (Positions available: 2)
Graphic designers are responsible for executing the ideas created by the Creative Director. This includes the creation of print ads, brochures, posters, web pages, and any other forms of design work.
Copy Writer (Position available: 1)
The copywriter has ultimate responsibility for the advertisement's verbal or textual content. This includes creating copy and editing existing copy. The copywriter works hand in hand with the art director to generate creative ideas to represent the proposition of any and all campaigns.
ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT
Account Director (Positions available: 1)
The account director is responsible for being the communication link between clients and the agency team. In addition to working with their own accounts and clients, the account director works with other account managers to ensure that all client jobs are being met.
In addition to bringing in new clients to the agency, the account director meets with the client to determine sales goals and creative strategy. They are then responsible for coordinating the creative, media, and production staff behind the campaign. Throughout the creative process, they keep in touch with the client to update them on the work’s progress and gain feedback. Upon completion of the creative work, it is their job to ensure production and placement.

PUBLIC REALTIONS SERVICES
Public Relations Director (Position available: 1)
The public relations director is responsible for overseeing the planning and direct public relations programs designed to create and maintain a favorable public image for employer or client. This includes the publicity planning, implementation, news writing, media relations, and special/promotional events. The public relations director is responsible for working with public relations managers to not only brainstorm and plan client events but to ensuring that all events are executed properly.
Public Relations Manager (Positions available: 2)
Public relations mangers are responsible for executing the public relations tactics determined by the public relations manager. They are responsible for helping with the execution of all public relations tactics including hiring staff for any special and promotional events.
MEDIA SERVICES
Media Director (Positions available: 1)
The media director is responsible for overseeing all media operations within the agency. They are responsible for working with media buyers to purchase media space or time, as well as develop the campaign and research how it will be most effective for the client. Media includes TV, print, radio, and online.
