Q: What is the Senior Class Gift?
A: Beginning this semester, graduating seniors will be encouraged to show their support for the Eller College of Management by making a pledge of $10 a year for five years, for a total of $50. In the spring, there will be events leading up to graduation where Seniors can make their pledges, including the 50 day kick-off event and countdown events every 10 days after that.
The Class of Spring 2008 has the chance to set the standard high for graduating classes to follow!
The Senior Class Gift is not just about raising money. It is also aimed at raising alumni participation rates and strengthening the value of the Eller education.

Q: What does the Senior Class Gift money go towards?
A: There are two critically important areas that the Senior Class Gift will aid in funding:
1. Flexible Gift: All of the money collected by May 31, 2008 will go toward a flexible gift, selected by the graduating class. Last year, the gift was professional dress changing stations in the restrooms, which should be completed before the end of the semester.
2. Endowment Fund: All proceeds received in the future will be put into a scholarship endowment fund. Each year, the interest earned will be given to students to help cover the rising College differential fees.

Q: Why support the Senior Class Gift?
A: Generous alumni are partly responsible for making Eller one of the top business schools in the nation. Now, the Senior Class Gift gives students the chance to continue that legacy, and give future generations of students the same opportunities.

Q: Will my gift of $50 really make a difference?
A: Every pledge counts. If we reach or goal of 100% participation we will raise roughly $20,000!
Also, alumni participation is one of the key factors that determine the ranking of a business school. A higher participation rate shows other schools, prospective students, and recruiters how much you value the school. As the Eller brand increases in value, so does the ranking of the school and the value of your degree. Currently only 13% of Eller alumni have ever given back financially to the College.

Q: Students already pay tuition. Why does Eller need a Senior Class Gift?
A: Tuition only covers about 17% of the costs of educating a student at the Eller College. Support from alumni and other sources are essential in order to sustain the education provided at this premier school of business.

Q: When and where can I make my pledge?
A: Make your pledge by downloading a pledge form online and dropping it off in McClelland Hall Room 204.

Q: Am I allowed to pay my $50 all at once?
A: Yes. Your $50 gift will be used as a part of the “flexible” gift.

Q: Can I give more than $50?
A: $50 is a suggested amount of giving, but you may certainly give more. You may also encourage your parents or family members to contribute to the Senior Class Gift to increase to size of the flexible gift fund. Any student that pledges more than the suggested $50 amount will be mentioned in the College’s Progress magazine after graduation.

Q: Do other schools have Senior Class Gifts?
A: Many of the top business schools have similar programs to the senior class gift. The Senior Class Gift at the Eller College of Management will raise class participation rates to more closely match those of our peer schools.
