Liberty Mutual Group Responsible Scholars Program
offers $10,000 Scholarships to College Undergraduates Who Make A Difference
Program Starts September 2nd
To celebrate the achievements of college undergraduates who are making a difference on their campuses, Liberty Mutual Group is launching its Liberty Mutual Responsible Scholars program for academic year 2009-2010. Five current college undergraduates enrolled in a full-time, four-year-degree program, who meet the award criteria, will be chosen to receive a $10,000 scholarship.
“At Liberty Mutual, we believe in celebrating and rewarding expressions of responsibility in multiple areas of life,” said Maura Quinn, University Relations Program Manager for Liberty Mutual Group. “We hope that by publicly recognizing the contribution of these students, we will inspire others to give back to their campuses.”
Scholarship recipients will be students who excel academically and have initiated a sustainable service or volunteer program that has a widespread impact on their college campus. To be eligible for the Liberty Mutual Responsible Scholars award, applicants must:
• Be a current freshman, sophomore or junior attending a full time, four-year-degree program at an accredited college or university in the United States;
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better;
• Submit an online application

GEICO’s 2009 Achievement Award program
It is with great pleasure that The University of Arizona is invited to participate in GEICO’s 2009 Achievement Award program! This program will provide $1,000.00 to five outstanding sophomores or juniors majoring in a business or IT-related degree program. Our program objectives are to encourage achievement in fields related to the operations of an insurance company, and for students to recognize GEICO as an employer of choice for post-graduation career opportunities.
The recipient of the Achievement Award may be recommended by your faculty or staff. Guidelines for student recommendation, and ultimately selection are:
o Be a sophomore or junior at a four-year, accredited college or university
o Has achieved at least a 3.0 overall grade point average
o Is accomplished in his/her field of study
o Is involved in his/her campus or community
Students are required to submit a completed application, resume, unofficial transcripts, a short essay on why they are the best person to receive the award, and a sealed letter of recommendation. The Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce is seeking interns for the
Spring 2009 semester. The Chamber's Government Affairs division is looking
for highly motivated, enthusiastic students, who have an interest in
governments, politics, advocacy and public policy. Interns will assist
Government Affairs with:

Each student will also be given a research project of their own and present

Building Owners and Management BOMA
To actively and responsibly represent and promote the interests of the commercial real estate industry through effective leadership and advocacy, through the collection, analysis and dissemination of information, and through professional development.
Successful applicants will be assigned to work with a Building Owners and Management (BOMA) committee chairperson and interact with the other Committee members while addressing the weekly/monthly duties. In addition to maintaining regular office schedule, the Student Intern will provide analytical support as needed to assist the BOMA Association Executive. Student and Mentor will collaborate to identify projects that the committee can focus on during the upcoming year.
Job Description: The student intern will have weekly contact with various members of the committee and members at large to garner support for projects, soliciting feedback on programs and needs. The student intern will utilize analytical and communication skills to add depth to assist the Committee in planning for various BOMA requirements. This may involve meeting with local government officials, vendors, tenants other trade groups or associations, meeting and event facilities and donors.
Qualifications: The applicant will be required to spend approximately 3-8 hours per week. The applicant must be able to attend the monthly luncheon, (last Tuesday of each month 11:30am-1pm), the monthly Board meeting, (third Thursday of each month 11:30-1pm) and the monthly committee meeting, (meeting times flexible). The weekly tasks will be flexible based on students schedule and BOMA committee tasks.
The ideal applicant will be in the second semester of the cohort and have an interest in Real Estate, Public Administration, Finance, Marketing, Business Management or Architecture/Design. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Applicant must be a good listener.
CAREER PATH:
The intention of this program is to provide a Summer or Fall semester opportunities to intern with BOMA member companies for qualified candidates who complete the BOMA committee internship.

Develop proactive understanding of changes in business environment and financial ramifications; rapidly understand business issues and determine root causes.
Continuously assess and amend metrics and trends to provide proactive information on risks and opportunities; compare actual results to assumptions inherent in prior forecasts.
Devise analytical framework and process for reviewing cost of goods sold, headcount and operating expenses.
Establish productivity metrics and reporting.
Perform profit analyses to facilitate the sales deal approval process
Develop and assess current financial reporting and analysis tools/software.
Actively participate in creation of annual budget and strategic plan.
Complete special projects as assigned by management.

IRS Criminal Investigation
Position Title: Special Agent Student Trainee
Job Description: Special Agents with IRS Criminal Investigation are sworn Federal law enforcement agents that conduct complex investigation involving tax crimes, narcotics, and organized crime. Special Agents carry firearms, conduct surveillance's, do undercover work, make arrests, and execute search warrants in order to curtail tax evasion, money laundering, and other criminal activity.
Qualifications: If you are hired and pass your background checks and physical, you will work with the Special Agents in Tucson doing much of the same work that they do. We won't allow you to carry a gun or go on search warrants, but you will investigate criminal activity. All candidates must be on track to graduate by 9/30/2010 so our primary candidates will be juniors and graduate students. All candidates must also complete the required coursework.
Time Commitment: minimum of 640 hours and a maximum of 1080 hours before graduation
